Abu Dhabi: Dr Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC), on Sunday attended a reception to mark the official opening of the European Union (EU) Delegation to the UAE.

Present on the occasion were Sultan Ahmad Al Jaber, Minister of State, Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, a number of key officials, representatives of the ministry of foreign affairs, and Arab and EU Ambassadors accredited to the UAE.

On the occasion, Dr Al Qubaisi confirmed the importance of hosting the EU mission in the UAE to enhance bilateral relations. She said that it will open new horizons of strategic partnership in various political, parliamentary, economic and investment fields.

She said that the UAE is a hub that connects the European countries, Middle East, Africa and South Asia. “Hosting the EU mission embodies the political and economic bonds between the two sides which would contribute to developing ties between them in particular and with the GCC in general,” she noted.

Dr Al Qubaisi stressed the keenness of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to support relations between the UAE and EU in all fields.
