Dubai: The post-holiday ticket sales aren’t over just yet and if you haven’t booked or planned your next vacation for the year, it’s time to get it sorted out soon.

Etihad is offering special fares for UAE travellers bound for India, Philippines, United States, France and United Kingdom, among other destinations. The lowest return economy ticket on some routes start at less than Dh1,000 and business seats up for grabs for just under Dh4,000.

The Abu Dhabi-based airline announced that economy tickets to Kochi can be had for Dh929, while flyers to Manila can secure fares for as low as Dh1,645. Flyers who want to secure seats in the business class can book a flight to Kochi for Dh3,429 or Chennai for Dh2,819.

High-season premium fares to the two Indian destinations can cost up to Dh5,265, if booked with other airlines at this time of year, according to the data provided by Sharaf Travel.

Etihad's business fares to Bangkok start from Dh7,205, while economy tickets to New York start from Dh3,635 and to Paris from Dh2,875.

Etihad’s special fares, however, run on a very limited time offer, and travellers have until January 23 to secure a budget-saving seat, but they can choose to fly anytime until November 30, 2018.

Other airlines, including Emirates and Air France had earlier unveiled discounted fares for various destinations.

Some travel experts say that the month of January is usually a good time for holidaymakers to book tickets, if they want to get the best price for their flight. However, this may not always be the case.

According to travel search site Skyscanner, the best time to book flight tickets can vary from destination to destination. The rule of thumb to keep in mind, however, is that flyers can save money if they book weeks in advance.

Booking a long-haul flight from the UAE to Spain 18 weeks in advance, for example, could help a traveller save on average up to 13.6 per cent on ticket price. Short-haul flights to other places, such as Egypt, if booked eight weeks in advance, could save the flyer up to 12.6 per cent on ticket cost.
