Ras Al Khaimah: The Ras Al Khaimah First CSR and Sustainability Conference was successfully held on 17-18 November 2014 at Al Hamra Convention Centre with a solid resolve from participants to pursue CSR and sustainability in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The conference was opened by Sheikh Mohamed Bin Kayed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Department of Economic Development of Ras Al Khaimah Government.

The RAK First CSR and Sustainability Conference challenged participants to think positively and rethink the way business is managed. The event offered private companies, semi-government, NGOs and government organisations a common ground to learn more about CSR in RAK and the region and how it added value in pursuing business excellence. In addition the Conference provided participants a venue to exchange ideas, share experiences and learn from each other’s best practices.

Ahmed Obaid Al Tuneiji, Acting Director General RAK DED, said, “Economic growth and sustainable development should always go hand in hand. While encouraging the growth of the business sector of the Emirate of RAK, we also recognise the inherent need to promote good business practices, protection of the environment and the welfare of the people. We are keen to promote the principles of corporate social responsibility as a way of doing business in RAK“.
