Sharjah: Flames gutted three scrap warehouses in the Al Saja Industrial area of Sharjah on Wednesday.

Workers escaped unhurt as the fire ripped through the buildings, according to Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, Director-General of Sharjah Civil Defence.

The fire is believed to have started at 5.17pm in one of the warehouses, then spread to the adjacent premises.

Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control.

Crews from the Al Saja, Muwaileh and Samnan stations participated in the operation.

Sharjah Police sealed off roads leading to the warehouses, allowing only emergency vehicles to pass.

Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported. Workers in nearby premises were also evacuated.
