Fujairah: A man faces official charges for smashing his father’s mobile phone, police said.

The man was charged following a dispute with his dad in Fujairah.

Fujairah Public Prosecution charged the 20-year-old UAE national with an intentional act of damaging property of his 55-year-old father. The Fujairah Court of First Instance will take up the case later this month.

Fujairah Police earlier attempted to resolve the case amicably between the father, identified as M.A. and his son, identified as H.M.A. But the father insisted on bringing a case against his son to teach him a lesson.

The father alleged in his statement that his son had threatened to kill him with a knife. He said his son behaved impolitely with him and did not respect him.

Police said the son admitted that he had quarrelled with his father over his pocket money, and in a fit of anger he had grabbed his father’s mobile phone and thrown it to the ground.

Police then referred the case to public prosecution and sent the son to police custody.
