Sharjah: Winners of the Etisalat Award for Arabic Children’s Literature will be announced on Wednesday on the sidelines of the 35th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair, an official said on Sunday.

The award, which is being organised by the UAE Board on Books for Young People and sponsored by etisalat, has revealed the shortlisted candidates at the Sharjah pavilion in the Frankfurt Book Fair, which concluded recently.

Marwa Obaid Al Aqroubi, chairwoman of the UAEBBY, said, “Over the past seven years, the board sought through the award to support those who provide Arabic children’s literature with exceptional publications that grab the attention of young children. We are always keen on announcing the winners on the sidelines of Sharjah International Book Fair to highlight the board’s participation in all cultural events and exhibitions locally and achieve our end goal of promoting the culture of reading and bringing children and books closer together as well as providing a golden opportunity for professional authors, artists and publishing houses to communicate and exchange expertise.”

Earlier, the jury announced the selection of books, which have been nominated to win in the award’s five categories. These five categories are Children’s Book of the Year, Young Adults Book of the Year, Best Text, Best Illustration, and Best Production.
