Dubai: An Emirati woman sustained minor injuries in Munich’s attack, confirmed the UAE ambassador in Germany.

Speaking to the Arabic program “Oloum Al Dar” – aired by Abu Dhabi Media – the UAE Ambassador in Germany, Ali Abdullah Al Ahmad, said in a telephone call on Saturday: “An Emirati woman sustained minor injuries as a result of the stampede that followed the incident. The woman was pushed into a wall as people tried to make their way out of the shopping centre.”

“She was transferred to a hospital for a check-up, and left shortly after,” he said.

Nine people were killed in the shooting that began early Friday evening, with 27 wounded according to the latest official toll.

The suspected attacker's body was found about one kilometre (0.6 miles) from Olympia mall where the shootings took place, German DPA news agency reported.

The perpetrator was identified as an 18-year-old German-Iranian from Munich

During the interview, he further stressed that no Emiratis were injured as a result of Friday evening’s attack.   

“Following the incident, the embassy contacted all Emiratis staying in Munich. We also advised our citizens to immediately contact local authorities if they see any suspicious behaviour,” said Ahmad.

In a statement, the UAE Consulate General said, “Due to the regretful events in Munich, it advises all the UAE nationals to be cautious and not to leave their residences unless necessary.”
