Abu Dhabi: A UAE citizen who has been detained in Iraq has been freed, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday.

The Emirati, Kh. A.M., is expected to arrive in the UAE on Saturday evening, said Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Abdullah Bin Mohammad Bin Butti Al Hamed.

Al Hamed said that the Emirati was freed following the ministry's cooperation with specialised authorities in the UAE and Iraq.

The Ministry reiterated the need for nationals to maintain communications with the Ministry, and to observe its warnings about traveling to places it considers as dangerous, whether for tourism or for hunting.

The Ministry also urged travelling Emiratis to register details of their travel at www.mofa.gov.ae.
