Dubai: Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), the regulatory body for Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), the integrated free zone technology park, has announced the launch of its roads improvement project, aiming to expand the existing roads infrastructure by approximately 2.7 kilometres.

Designed to reduce traffic congestion in and around the high-tech park, especially adjacent to Dubai Academic City Road, the project will be executed at a total cost of Dh28 million. Expansion works will include a filter road for one of the exits from DSO heading to Academic City Road.

Additionally, the number of exits from DSO to Academic City Road will increase to three with the construction of a new exit to allow easier access to the main roads around the hi-tech park.

A new lane is being added to the exit from Academic City Road on to the Dubai-Al Ain Road due to the bottlenecks being caused at peak hours. The project is set for completion by the end of this year.

Speaking on the project, Abdul Jaleel Abbasi, Vice-President, Planning and Design at DSOA, said: “The roads expansion works have been actioned in response to suggestions received about the traffic building up on the exits from DSO leading to Academic City Road and Dubai-Al Ain Road. The step also conforms with our DSOA 2021 strategy that aims to provide optimum convenience to residents and tenants through the provision of enabling and smart infrastructure at the hi-tech park.

“The ‘Junctions Improvement’ project will cover high-traffic areas around the premises, as well as the internal DSO roads in its sweep. This will mean less travel time for DSO residents and free up some quality time in their daily lives.”
