Dubai: Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief, yesterday visited the Dubai Police Criminal and Investigation Department (CID) as part of the annual inspection visits to Dubai Police departments and police stations.

“Security is the key backbone of development and is the most important pillar of stability and welfare,” Maj Gen Al Mazeina said.

He highlighted the keenness by Dubai Police to firmly establish these pillars by implementing development plans to achieve the desired goals set by the police leadership to cut crimes first and then achieve the strategic goal of curbing and preventing crimes in Dubai.

Maj Gen Al Mazeina said last year the CID managed to cut crimes to 56.5 crimes per 1,000 families, compared with 59.7 crimes in 2013. However, Dubai still has a low crime rate per capita and is a safe city, according to Dubai Police statistics.

During his tour, Maj Gen Al Mazeina visited security patrols and squads who have extraordinary abilities in dealing with risks and exceptional conditions as well as arresting violent suspects.

Maj Gen Al Mazeina also inspected the progress of work at the Anti-Economic Crimes Department and its role in combating cyber crimes through its various sections and divisions dedicated to combating fraud and scams as well as fighting forgery, counterfeiting crimes, commercial fraud and piracy.

He instructed all Dubai Police staff and personnel to double efforts and results achieved by the CID in curbing and preventing crimes, keep up-to-date with the latest technology and developments in the security field so as to continue to make progress and improvement in security operations and ensure the safety of the public.
