Dubai: An Asian man who was allegedly caught red-handed delivering a sample of heroin to one of Dubai police mystery shoppers was arrested by Dubai Police.

Major General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigation, said that Dubai Police had received reports from trusted sources on the criminal activity of the suspect, N.K.M., and his complicity in smuggling and promoting drugs. To make sure of his involvement, Dubai Police set a trap for the accused to catch him red-handed through arranging a fake transaction between him and a member of the police force.

After investigating the suspect, it turned out to be a member of a gang in his home country and he were in continuous communication for the purpose of smuggling drugs to the UAE in various quantities and different periods of time using a professional method to conceal them, Maj Gen Al Mansouri added.

Maj Gen Al Mansouri pointed out that 4.64kg of heroin concealed inside plastic bags and cartons in the form of rolls was found upon inspection of his house in Sharjah. The suspect was referred to the authority concerned to proceed with the necessary legal actions after criminally charging N.K.M. with smuggling, possession and promotion of drugs, he said.
