Dubai: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has launched a medical complaints portal, said a top health official.

The portal, which can be accessed from the regulatory body’s website, dha.gov.ae, can be used by both patients within the UAE and medical tourists.

“We already have a robust medical complaints procedure in place and the move towards an e-complaints system will further enhance efficiencies and streamline processes,” said DHA official Layla Al Marzouqi.

“Our aim is patient satisfaction and implementing mechanisms that ensure delivery of world-class health care in the emirate,” she added.

The online complaints portal has a separate section for residents of the UAE and medical tourists.

How does it work?

After filling in the form on the portal, users will be provided with a reference number.

Then, the DHA’s regulation team reviews the patient’s medical file, and prepares a case summary. The DHA then contacts the complainant and the medical facility to check both parties have seen the complaint.

The DHA’s governance office will review and, if deemed necessary, form a committee of at least three doctors.

A separate committee makes a final decision. The complainant and health-care facility will then be informed of the outcome of the investigation.
