Dubai: The second weekend carnival of the Dubai Fitness Challenge to be held at Kite Beach on October 27-28 has lined up exciting beach sports for participants.

The first weekend carnival in Safa Park drew crowds of more than 25,000.

Activities planned at Kite Beach include beach volleyball, beach cricket and capoeira. It will also have dedicated fitness zones.

The challenge, launched earlier this month, calls on Dubai residents and visitors to keep themselves fit by exercising 30 minutes every day for 30 days.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, praised participants, and Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council, for the initiative.

“I am pleased with the huge response that the DFC has attained. My thanks and appreciation to Hamdan Bin Mohammad for encouraging the community to exercise,” Shaikh Mohammad said on Twitter.

On Monday, Shaikh Hamdan challenged youth to participate in the Dubai Fitness Challenge, after challenging various big government organisations like Dubai Police, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Roads and Transport Authority, and many others, earlier this month.

“I challenge all the youth councils around the UAE, headed by Shamma Al Mazroui, to join the @DXBFitChallenge,” Shaikh Hamdan said in a tweet on Monday.

October 27-28: Kite Beach

November 3-4: Skydive Dubai

November 10-11: Burj Park

November 17-18: Festival City

Each weekend carnival will feature dedicated zones where participants can try sports such as suspension training, volleyball and boxing with expert trainers, while children will have special ‘fun and fitness’ areas featuring climbing walls, football and cricket coaching, horse hoppers for toddlers, and more.
