Dubai: The weather bureau has warned motorists in the Western Region to exercise caution when driving early on Thursday morning as fog or mist may form and could reduce visibility.

Dense fog was recorded in the western part of the country such as Liwa, Madinat Zayed and Al Wathba early Wednesday morning with fog reducing visibility to 50 metres. This is expected to happen again on Thursday.

“There are some chances of patches of mist or fog formation in the interior areas of the western parts of UAE early Thursday morning. The weather is stable all over the country but the increased humidity, the high pressure over the surface and upper layers of air and the calm wind in general, all these parameters together caused the fog formation,” the forecaster told Gulf News.

The north-westerly winds will accelerate and will blow moderate to fresh air which will affect temperatures across the country. Beginning Thursday, the temperature will gradually decrease by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in general, giving residents cooler and fairer weather.

The forecaster warned that because of the accelerated winds, the Arabian Gulf will be rough, especially in the northern part, from Wednesday night to Thursday.
