Dubai: An international film crew has landed in Dubai to document the construction of the emirate’s latest mega project – the Heart of Europe – as part of the Discovery Channel’s latest series that follows constructions of unique buildings around the world.

Austrian company Kleindienst is the property developer responsible for redesigning the six islands at The World, which is set to bring snow and rain to Dubai.

The Heart of Europe made global headlines with the announcement of the world’s first floating villas, known as the Floating Seahorse, and will now feature in a new documentary series, ‘Impossible Builds.’

The other four chosen projects to feature in the Impossible Builds series alongside The Heart of Europe include the world’s skinniest skyscraper in New York, and the world’s first curvaceous skyscraper in Melbourne.

Irene Antoniades, producer and series director, said: “We’re following the constructions of unique buildings around the world and the Heart of Europe is absolutely key. We’re following the construction of the seahorse and various buildings on the island because it’s something that’s never been done before."

Filming has already started with an initial focus on projects located on two out of the six unique islands –the first two Sweden Palaces that are being built on Sweden Island, and the world’s first Floating Seahorse, which will are located on St. Petersburg Island.

Josef Kleindienst, Chairman of Kleindienst, said: “We are thrilled that Discovery International has selected The Heart of Europe for its new documentary, which will showcase the most ambitious and adventurous approaches to construction and architecture.

"We are proud to be chosen from Dubai and the world’s many impressive projects as this confirms that we are setting new benchmarks in innovation and technology.”
