Sharjah: The Sharjah government entities will start levying a fee of Dh10 for government transactions whose fees are above Dh50, as of January 1, 2017.

The introduction of the new fee was approved by the Sharjah Executive Council during its meeting chaired by Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, on Tuesday.

Transactions whose fees are less than Dh50 are exempted from this levy.

Also exempted from the fee are transactions for medical treatment and health care services at any hospitals, clinics and medical centres operating in the emirate.

The council also issued a resolution with an aim to supporting scientific research in the emirate, a move that highlights the importance of scientific studies, research and results in various aspects of life.

The move comes as part of the emirate’s efforts to enhance the participation of individuals and community organisations in boosting scientific research.
