Demi Lovato will perform as planned at RedFest DXB next year despite announcing a break from music.

“So excited for 2017. Taking a break from music and the spotlight. I am not meant for this business and the media,” Lovato tweeted on Tuesday.

But organisers have said Lovato will headline the annual music festival at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre on February 3. She’s set to share a bill with Tove Lo, Alessia Cara and Mike Posner.

“Demi Lovato is performing at Virgin Radio RedFestDXB as part of an agreed standalone show, with her having recently completed her Future Now tour,” a statement emailed to tabloid! said.

“Demi has posted a video saying she can’t wait to see fans perform at Virgin Radio RedFestDXB next year.”

Lovato’s tweet has been branded a ‘hiatus’ announcement. It follows a media frenzy around Lovato’s recent criticism of Taylor Swift’s brand of feminism. Lovato specifically called out Swift for her song Bad Blood and its music video.

“I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that’s not women’s empowerment,” she said.

Tickets for RedFest DXB, from Dh395, are on sale now through ticketmaster.ae and Virgin Megastores.
