Dubai: A woman bit a man who tried to kidnap her, while her friend ran partially naked into a supermarket as she fled the accused’s friend who was trying to force her into a car.

B.Y., a 31-year-old Emirati man, and his friend, who remains unknown and at large, were said to have picked up the two Iranian women from a pub sometime in October.

They proceeded to B.Y.’s house in Oudh Mutaina, where they had shisha and consumed liquor in October.

Records show that they failed to convince the women to stay, with the women opting to leave just after 4am.

Angered at this, B.Y. and his friend pursued them and tried to force them into their car but the women fought back.

One of the women bit B.Y.’s hand to make good her escape while the second was left half undressed after a failed bid by the absconding suspect to bundle her the car. She took refuge in a supermarket.

Prosecutors accused B.Y. and his friend of trying to force the women into their vehicle and beating them after failing to do so.

One of the women testified to prosecutors that they met the suspects at 11.30pm in a pub in Al Muraqabat.

“We consumed alcohol and spent the evening with them until 4am at the pub. Then we agreed to go with them to their residence... when we entered their flat, there were other people present. We had shisha,” the woman said.

“One of the men present there asked to have sex with my friend... they went inside and returned quickly. Then she told me that she [was feeling] sick,” she added.

“B.Y. then came to me and asked me to remove my dress... I removed everything except my underwear. When I noticed that the atmosphere became unfriendly, I convinced my friend [that we] sneak out of the flat and leave,” the woman told prosecutors.

“After we ran away, they chased us in their car. They tried to force us into the vehicle but we resisted them... They beat me and took my purse,” the woman claimed.

The other victim backed up her friend’s statement and added that she had bitten B.Y. before fleeing and then calling the police.

A police officer told prosecutors that surveillance cameras had shown one of the women running into the supermarket almost naked.

Records said the women helped the police locate B.Y.’s house, resulting in his arrest.

Prosecutors accused B.Y. and his absconding friend of attempted kidnapping, assault, theft, in addition to consuming alcohol.

B.Y. was also charged with drinking and stealing one of the victim’s make-up set, Dh4,500 and an iPhone.

However, B.Y. failed to show up before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Wednesday, where he was scheduled to enter his plea. Presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi will sentence him in absentia later this month.

According to court records, the Iranian women are being tried before the Misdemeanours Court for consuming alcohol.
