Dubai: A number of traffic accidents were reported across Dubai on Tuesday morning; delaying motorists and grinding traffic to a halt.

The city’s highways and byways leading into, and throughout the emirate, were affected by this morning’s traffic jam.

On its official Twitter page, Dubai Police reported a traffic accident at 6.50am along Airport Road, near Terminal 1, and cautioned motorists to drive with caution due to the tailbacks of traffic.


Commuters travelling from Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed (MBZ) Road through Sharjah’s National Paints intersection also faced heavy delays from 8am, with a mass sea of cars that extended up to Silicon Oasis on the Dubai-Al Ain Road.    

Another accident that caused further delays in the city was reported along Al Aweer Road on the MBZ highway, at around 8.30am, which burdened motorists with more traffic congestion.  

Multiple accidents were reported again at Airport Road at 9am, after the Rashidiya Metro station, resulting in more tailbacks along MBZ Road and ultimately, affecting commuters from Sharjah. 

At 8.58am, a traffic accident took place on Shaikh Zayed Road – Sharjah bound – that caused even further traffic delays across the city.   

The National Central for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has warned of poor visibility due to fog formation over the next couple of days, and advised motorists to urged to drive with caution.

This is the second day in a row that Dubai motorists are faced with thick fog.

On Monday, Dubai Police recorded 107 traffic accidents across Dubai between 4 and 9am, as motorists failed to take the necessary precautions while driving in low visibility conditions. 

Motoring social media sites also reported the Tuesday morning rush-hour accidents.
