You’re already capturing the various sights and experiences of Dubai. Now, your photography skills might actually help you win prizes.
The second annual Urban Pixels contest is on and all you need to do is take a photograph at any Meraas destination - City Walk, The Beach, Boxpark, Last Exit, The Outlet Village, or Kite Beach – and share it on Instagram with the hashtag #urbanpixelsdxb for a chance to walk away with a prize. The competition closes on April 12, 2017.
On April 19, a panel of judges will choose three winners whose photos tell a story in a creative way.
The winning entries will be featured in a two-week exhibition from April 19 at Dubai’s Boxpark and on digital screens across Meraas’ destinations.
The contest, which aims to reflect the vibrancy of everyday urban life in Dubai, kicked off on March 22.
Photographs can be submitted in three categories - ‘Active’ images of people exercising, enjoying sporting activities, and playing; ‘Urban’ images of places, architecture, structures, shadows and light and dark; and shots that capture ‘Life’ experiences such as a family gathering, celebration, food and drink, and other special occasions.
The submitted images will also be displayed in a feed on the Urban Pixels website where they will be ranked by the number of likes they receive on Instagram. This People’s Choice award will be awarded to the photographer who receives the most number of likes when the competition closes.
Entrants must keep their profiles open to be considered for an award.
