Abu Dhabi: Following the spread of a video on the internet calling into question the safety of certain poultry items, the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has given the all-clear for chicken nugget products in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Mohammad Jalal Al Raisi, Director of Communication and Community Service at the ADFCA, said all products that are available and imported into the emirate, such as animal and poultry products, are subject to very high food control standards and procedures.

He said the meat used in these products are from animals slaughtered as per Sharia, and when imported from other countries those products are accompanied by certificates from Islamic bodies that are approved by UAE embassies in the importing countries.

Al Raisi said the authority had received many inquiries from the public regarding the authenticity of the video recently shared on the internet.

He said that following inspection it was revealed the video contained false information. He said that the authority constantly follows up on issues pertaining to food safety at both local and international levels.

Al Raisi said that the public can contact the authority on 800555 for any inquiries that they may have regarding rumours about food quality.
