Police have filed a case against singer Remo Fernandes for the alleged verbal abusing of a minor.
The formal charges were submitted on Thursday, while the case was filed under the Goa Children’s Court last year, said Police Inspector Uday Parab.
“We completed our investigation and filed the chargesheet before the GCC,” Parab told media in Panaji.
Fernandes is accused of abusing a minor girl from Malvan in Maharashtra.
The girl was walking toward the Old Goa Church complex on an annual pilgrimage when a car allegedly driven by Fernandes’ son knocked her down on December 15 last year.
After the victim was admitted to the Goa Medical College near Panaji, Fernandes met the girl and after an altercation verbally abused her.
An FIR was filed against Fernandes under section 8 of Goa Children’s Act, a special legislation that deals with crimes against children.
