Dubai: How fast is too fast?

In the latest speeding incident, a radar caught a man driving so fast that his rear window actually slipped off.

On Monday, Abu Dhabi Police a photo on its social media accounts showing the moment when the rear window of a moving vehicle fell out.

The mobile ‘sniper’ radar caught the driver speeding at 187km/h on Shaikh Maktoum Street in Abu Dhabi.

Lt. Col. Dr. Abdullah Al Suwaidi, deputy director of the Traffic Department of the Traffic and Patrols Department of the General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, explained that the speed of the vehicle was caught on camera thanks to the efficiency of the sniper radar.

Sniper radars can be found across various areas of the Abu Dhabi emirate, which also cover Al Ain and Al Gharbia in the Western Region.

“After the investigation, police found that the rear window had been recently replaced but was not installed properly” he said.  

Abu Dhabi Police urge motorists to carry out regular maintenance on their cars, and to check the safety standard of their vehicles before driving on the road to prevent road users from traffic accidents.
