Riyadh: Saudi Arabia is aiming at attracting more private investments in the tourism sector as a source of revenue and economic growth.
Speaking at the Saudi Travel and Tourism Investments Market, organised by the Supreme Commission for Tourism, Riyadh Governor Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz said religious tourism in particular is an important sector that is unique to Saudi Arabia.
"The major tourism industry that we have is Haj and Umrah as well as the visit to Madinah. No other country boasts of this service," he said adding that this industry provides a good opportunity for people to understand the rich cultural heritage of the Kingdom.
He invited businessmen to invest in developing the tourism sector, saying such investments are not only viable but also secure and safe.
