Mohammad opens Desert Island resort
General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, inaugurated the Sir Bani Yas five-star Desert Island Resort and Spa, run by the Thai Anantara Resorts and Spas.

Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, inaugurated the Sir Bani Yas five-star Desert Island Resort and Spa, run by the Thai Anantara Resorts and Spas.
It will be the first phase of the Desert Islands tourism project which offers a regional and international model for the comprehensive sustainable development.
The project puts the Sir Bani Yas island, along with eight other islands located on the opposite side of the western region shores of Abu Dhabi, on the international tourism map.
The opening ceremony was attended by Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the National Security Advisor, Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Head of the Emiri Airlines, Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mub-arak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and other Shaikhs and senior officials.
Shaikh Mohammad viewed the prints of the coming phases of the quality tourism project to be set up on Sir Bani Yas and other adjacent islands which include a unique variety of recreation, tourism, scientific, cultural and sport projects, expected to be the attraction for tourism groups.
Shaikh Mohammad also listened to a presentation from the tourist investment developers and the phases of construction.
The Sir Bani Yas project will be completed in 2014, and will include 6 hotels, resorts and sea front recreation centres for sea sports, nature camping and Arab style villages. The islands will also be set with water channels, gulfs and bays.
