Dubai: A major beachfront resort, Al Hamra Palace Hotel, billed as Ras Al Khaimah's seven-star property, is taking shape at a cost of Dh400 million, officials said.

"It will be a spectacular project and an architectural landmark, something like the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi," said Tawfiq Al Hajj, sales manager of Al Hamra Palace Hotel.

The resort will comprise 546 rooms including 300 hotel rooms, 37 luxury suites, five restaurants, three bars and 246 serviced apartments. The entire project stretches across 1.5 kilometres of prime beachfront.

The hotel will be managed by Ras Al Khaimah-based Al Hamra, which also owns and operates Al Hamra Fort Hotel and Beach Resort, Al Hamra Village Town House and Khatt Springs Hotel and Spa.

Owned by the Ras Al Khaimah government, the resort will open during the middle of next year.

Al Hamra Contracting has earlier been awarded the main construction package for the project.

Features

Designed in traditional Arabic motif, the hotel will provide a good option for luxury leisure travellers who opt for quiet moments on the beach, away from the city's crowd.

"Al Hamra Palace Hotel will attract much more affluent visitors to Ras Al Khaimah," said Hillary McCormack, manager of RAK Tourism. "It's a very luxurious property and provides a wonderful option to travellers who are looking for alternative destinations in the UAE."

Al Hamra Palace is one of many hotels and resorts coming up in the emirate, which until a few years ago largely remained an isolated neighbourhood.

However, in the last three years it has emerged as a major attraction for investors as the government launched an ambitious plan to diversify its economy. More than Dh50 billion worth of projects are in various stages of planning and development.

Egyptian developers are building The Cove, a luxury residential cluster that will also host a hotel, while RAK Properties is building a number of properties that will house a number of hotels in each cluster.
