New dial code for mobile number series

Etisalat will soon begin allocating mobile numbers with '0566' dialling code, as the current '050' code is nearing the maximum limit of numbers that can be issued, a statement from the telecom provider said.

Dubai: Etisalat will soon begin allocating mobile numbers with '0566' dialling code, as the current '050' code is nearing the maximum limit of numbers that can be issued, a statement from the telecom provider said.

Strong customer demand has necessitated the introduction of a new mobile number series, it added.

Etisalat has 6.3 million mobile subscribers, attaining a 150 per cent mobile penetration among the UAE's nearly 4.3 million population. Its domestic rival du has 1 million subscribers with '0550 code.

Earlier, the UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority allocated the '0566' code to etisalat.
