Mobily extends free incoming call facility for roaming subscribers
Saudi Arabian mobile operator Mobily's subscribers can now receive local and international calls for free from 56 countries.
Riyadh: Saudi Arabian mobile operator Mobily's subscribers can now receive local and international calls for free from 56 countries.
The mobile phone service is made available through one of the largest roaming agreements ever, involving more than 100 GSM operators worldwide.
The countries covered include the UAE, Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan, Sudan, Libya, France, Switzerland, Japan, Finland, Denmark and Norway, a statement from the company said.
The new service also allows receipt of free SMS messages through the operating networks in 51 countries.
In the other five Arab countries, a specific operator has to be selected.
Mobily's subscribers will have freedom to hop from one network to another free of charge, the company said.
Mobily had reduced its rates by as much as 60 per cent for local calls to Saudi Telecom (STC) land and mobile networks, with a minute of voice calls costing as little as 12 halalahs. It had also dropped its international call rates by a similar margin.
A one-minute call to any GCC country costs a mere 44 halalahs, Jordan 80, India 72, Iraq 92, and Yemen 80.
