Dubai: Nokia Siemens Networks is to deploy its energy efficient radio access solution under a turnkey network expansion and manage a $225 million services contract with UAE telecom operator du.
The radio access solution, which includes the advanced 2G/3G/HSPA technologies and a range of services that meet rigorous regional demands, will enable du to extend its network to cater to four million subscribers across the UAE.
The solution offered by Nokia Siemens Networks comprises the market-leading multi-technology Flexi Base Station; a small, lightweight, modular, weatherproof, and energy efficient base station which will significantly help du improve network quality through offering better signal strength and wider coverage to their customers.
This will enable du to save 70 per cent of its site power consumption.
The scope of work also comprises internet-HSPA, an innovation providing future cost savings while boosting network capacity and enhancing user experience.
In addition, support services will help du to improve commercial, operational and technical performance of its network, freeing them to focus on their core business.
"When planning this phase of our business expansion, we were looking for a partner with end-to-end capabilities to meet our needs" said Osman Sultan, CEO of du.
"With Nokia Siemens Networks' state-of-the-art equipment and with our strong existing relationship, we are ready to take this partnership to the next level to the benefit of du's customers and our business."
