Sharp eyes B2B expansion with launch of new projector
Sharp, the Japanese electronics manufacturer, is working towards expanding its business-to-business (B2B) base by launching a conference-use projector, officials said.
Dubai: Sharp, the Japanese electronics manufacturer, is working towards expanding its business-to-business (B2B) base by launching a conference-use projector, officials said.
Tomio Isogai, managing director, Middle East for Sharp told Gulf News that he sees immense opportunity in the Gulf market for projectors specialised for conferences due to the new hotels coming up in the region as part of the hospitality boom.
In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, the projector will have less impact on power consumption. "The new model has the least power consumption among other similar projectors in the industry," said Isogai.
Market share
He expects that with their new projector type, the company can be a major player in this field.
The company has an average of 10 per cent market share for some products and their goal is to touch 10 per cent in all markets with every product, according to officials.
In the B2B market, the company performs best with copiers, their estimates have shown, and it is gaining market share in the home entertainment segment.
The company earned about $200 million in revenues in 2007 and it aims to reach $500 million in less than three years, according to Isogai.
The Gulf region is proving to be the fastest growing market for the company. "We are expecting 40 per cent growth in 2008 compared to last year's revenues, which is not seen in any other part of the world now," Isogai said.
