Frankfurt: Technology giant Samsung on Monday launched a new touchscreen smartphone to rival Apple's iconic iPhone.
Samsung's Omnia comes equipped with a wide screen for video viewing, music capability and a 5 megapixel camera.
The product launch comes hours before Apple is due to launch its second generation iPhone.
Omnia will be available at the CommunicAsia trade exhibition in Singapore starting June 17.
It is expected to go on sale in Asia that week, and will be available in Europe in July.
According to photographs released by Samsung, the Omnia looks similar to the original iPhone with dark, smooth edges and slim form.
