Dubai: Online marketplace Souq.com announced on Sunday that it has attracted a growing number of UAE companies and is fast revolutionizing the e-commerce scene in the UAE.
The company, which allows businesses and individuals to set up their own exclusive online merchandise stores to showcase and sell products at fixed prices, has already registered 140,000 users and recorded over 270,000 visitors a month. Page views in the month of July alone reached 8.4 million.
In a press statement, the company said a number of big-ticket companies, such as Cellucom and RadioShack, small business owners and individual traders have signed up to operate their own e-stores to broaden their market reach and achieve instant results.
Souq.com already features over 70 stores that trade in arts and collectibles, books, clothing, games and gadgets, jewellery, mobiles and accessories, computers and consumer electronics, among others.
"Since its launch close to three years ago, a growing number of small businesses and individual sellers and buyers in the UAE have been using Souq.com as a reliable interface for their transactions. More recently, we have noticed the number of small and medium size businesses as well as entrepreneurial ventures that approach Souq to showcase their items rising steadily, and this is effectively what has motivated us to launch Souq.com Stores," said Sameh Lutfi, Sales & Marketing Manager of Souq.com.
Headquartered in Dubai Internet City, Souq.com is backed by Maktoob.com, an online community in the Arab world.
