Keeping the mouse at your fingertips
Having problems with your mouse? Is your cursor jumping across the screen or not moving at all? Here are a few tips.
The problem with your mouse is most likely physical, although wireless problems would be an issue.
Here is what to look for:
1) Do you have a older wired, roller ball mouse? If you have been using it for a while, it may have built up a layer on dirt inside which is hindering the rollerball inside. Turn your mouse upside down, pop open the door that holds the ball, and then clean the rollers inside. Try to use the mouse on a clean surface or considering buying a new, laser mouse.
2) Even laser mice can have problems. If you're using such a mouse, make sure that you are not using it on a highly reflective surface. Since the mouse uses the reflection of the laser beam to track motion, a reflective surface can cause problems. Sometimes even a mousepad with images can cause your mouse to malfunction.
3) Sometimes the problem is the wireless connection, which can be interfered with by so many other devices. If you are using a wireless mouse, make sure that there is a relatively clear path between the receiver and the transmitter. If the receiver and the transmitter are too far apart, or if there is something in between them that could interfere with the transmission, you may notice some problems.
