iPhone welcome in UAE 'but no exclusive rights'
Apple is welcome to bring the iPhone to the UAE, but customers here should be able to "enjoy all the latest technologies and services regardless of their operator," the UAE's telecom regulator said in a statement to Gulf News.
Dubai: Apple is welcome to bring the iPhone to the UAE, but customers here should be able to "enjoy all the latest technologies and services regardless of their operator," the UAE's telecom regulator said in a statement to Gulf News.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA) has previously made statements that it will not allow any company to establish an exclusive right to iPhone services with either of the two licensed operators in the UAE.
The TRA also said in the statement that it is not stopping any telecom from negotiating with Apple. The statement seems to be aimed at some reports that the TRA was blocking the iPhone from entering the UAE market. The TRA said it leaves "it to the licensed operators to feel free to engage in any negotiation relates to the iPhone or any other similar services".
