Gear up tech-freaks, as the region's biggest technology expo, Gitex 2008, is about to descend upon Dubai.
The annual business and consumer technology exhibition, now in its 28th year, is scheduled to be held from October 19 -23 and promises to be bigger than before.
This year's installment will feature a weeklong exhibition of tech-filled activities under the banner of Gitex Technology Week, which consists of three major elements: Gitex Business Solutions, Gulfcomms and Consumer Electronics.
Gitex Business Solutions is a premier exhibition catering to government, enterprise and SMB solution providers. Headlined by big names such as Microsoft, Ford and Panasonic, the high-profile event focuses on providing a platform for the latest in technology developments.
Gulfcomms is Gitex's dedicated event for the region's rapidly growing telecommunications sector. Packed with live demonstrations and special presentations, Gulfcomms will showcase the newest trends in the mobile, fixed, IP and satellite sector.
The world comes to shop in the event's third highly popular offering: Consumer Electronics. Top global brands will present their best deals and packages in the fair, now in its 18th year, which will also feature an exclusive technology fashion show, the world's largest gaming tournament and a whole lot more.
Entrance to the trade events, which will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, is restricted to business professionals only. Tickets are priced at Dh40 for a single day pass, and Dh100 for five days. Participants are encouraged to pre-register for the events online, but can also pick up trade passes at the door.
