Dell will focus on UAE, Asia markets to boost growth
Michael Dell, the chairman and CEO of Dell Inc, on Sunday said the computer giant is targeting emerging markets as a key area of growth.

Dubai: Michael Dell, the chairman and CEO of Dell Inc, on Sunday said the computer giant is targeting emerging markets as a key area of growth.
"When we look at our business, it's emerging countries like the UAE and [regions like] Asia that are absolutely the fastest growing part of our business," Dell said.
"I think, generally speaking, developed economies, with the US being the big-gest, are the slower growing part of our business."
Dell made his comments during a press conference in Dubai. It was the company founder's first trip to the region.
Dell said last year the company saw over 70 per cent growth in emerging markets, and that notebook sales had grown at almost twice that rate.
Dell is currently the second largest computer retailer in the world behind HP.
Part of that investment will directly involve the UAE, said Pim Dale, Dell's vice-president of emerging markets.
"We are going to install a logistics hub here in Dubai, basically to provide distributions of Dell products through out this region and also into the east African region and beyond." Dale said the hub would eventually move to Logistics City.
While Dell would not give specific revenue for the region, David Marmonti, president of Dell's EMEA region, said the EMEA region made up less that 25 per cent of its total revenues, which is estimated to be $61 billion this year.
"We are making a number of changes at Dell, and it's important to understand that we're making those changes is that so we can invest in the things that we believe are critical to our future," he said.
