Dubai: With around 40 zones and unlimited entertainment, Modhesh World has just three more weeks to go before the 13th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises concludes.
The Modhesh Souq is one attraction that aims to showcase Emirati culture and heritage.
Organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs, several stalls at the souq are dedicated to the Forsaty programme. The programme is a centre that promotes goods produced by Emirati families, enabling them to supplement their income from home. The products displayed for sale include local handicrafts, cosmetics, garments, accessories and perfumes.
Encouragement
Umm Saif Al Jumeiri is an Emirati businesswoman at the souq. She displays handmade clips and fragrances.
Hoor Fashions, also part of the Forsaty programme, stocks sheilas and ghata sala — the traditional prayer apparel for women.
Dubai Police are also showcasing handicrafts made by prisoners at the souq in an effort to train and rehabilitate inmates according to their interests and skills.
A series of works such as boxes and brass table sets are on sale and are very popular among visitors.
The Dubai Club for Special Needs also has three kiosks at the Modhesh Souq. Sheilas, abayas, traditional pottery, handbags, gift baskets, fancy containers, linen and accessories are on sale here.
The products are made by physically and mentally challenged members of the club.
