Abu Dhabi: Al Rawabi, a locally-based manufacturer of dairy products, said on Wednesday it has invested Dh25 million into the expansion of its cold storage infrastructure through the introduction of a new facility.
The facility can store 4,000 pallets — the equivalent of 180,000 crates — in a temperature-controlled environment. The move comes as Al Rawabi aims to bolsters its capacity to accommodate rising demand after sales grew 15 per cent in the first quarter of 2015.
The new cold store takes the company’s storage capacities from 1,000 pallets to 4,000, and includes new ramp to eliminate bottlenecks, automatic packaging and labelling machines. The new loading area also helps eliminate instances of transport-related damage.
“Al Rawabi is committed to expanding its operations and introducing world-class facilities to continue providing consumers across the region fresh, high-quality products. Our new cold storage facility offers engineering, design and technology improvements to create efficiency and cost savings while helping us streamline our value chain and become a premier regional brand,” Ahmad Al Tigani, Al Rawabi Dairy’s general manager, said in a statement.
The facility is scalable, and can accommodate a further five loading stations in the future. Al Rawabi produces 275,000 litres of dairy products a day, and 150,000 litres of juice.
