Abu Dhabi: Aspiring Arab film makers are being given a huge boost in the region thanks to a new film studio program that was officially launched on Tuesday.

Arab Film Studio will help aspiring young Arab film students learn all elements of the film-making craft over the next five years, said partners Image Nation Abu Dhabi and twofour54tadreeb.

"Arab Film Studio will identify, train and foster budding Emirati filmmakers, providing them with the discipline and training needed for successful careers in the film industry," said both firms in a joint announcement on Tuesday.

To kick off the hunt for young filmmaker talent, Arab Film Studio has launched competitions to identify promising artists looking to develop a career.

Arab Film Studio is starting with a call for entries for its first Short Film Competition, an initiative targeted at Emirati film students and young professionals.

Mohammad Al Mubarak, chairman of Image Nation, said the studio will serve as a launch pad for talent.

"Our goal at Image Nation is to be a magnet for aspiring filmmakers. There is a wealth of talent in the UAE and we are committed to spearheading programs that sharpen their skills and create compelling platforms for their voices to be heard. We're confident Arab Film Studio will deliver on both of these aims," he said in a statement.
