Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and his delegation.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, was also present at the meeting. Shaikh Mohammad and Santos reviewed bilateral relations between the UAE and Colombia and ways to develop them to higher levels in trade, economic, tourism and investment domains.

Shaikh Mohammad highlighted the positive role played by the Colombian president to achieve peace and stability in his country after decades of conflict and internal fighting. He also wished permanent progress, welfare and stability for the friendly people of Colombia.

Shaikh Mohammad and Santos attended a signing ceremony between the two countries pertaining to avoidance of double taxation and increase and protection of mutual investments.

Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, signed the agreement on behalf of the UAE, with Mauricio Cardenas Santamaria, Minister of Finance and Public Credit of Colombia, and Maria Lorena Gutierrez, Colombia’s Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism.

Shaikh Mohammad and the Colombian president approved the two agreements and expressed the wish to establish bridges of constructive cooperation between the two countries, especially in the sectors of agriculture, industry, innovation and modern technologies.

Among those who attended the signing ceremony were Shaikh Mansour Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, Reem Ebrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Mohammad Ebrahim Al Shaibani, Director-General of His Highness The Ruler’s Court of Dubai, Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director-General of Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai, and other officials.
