DUBAI: The hottest cars on earth have rolled into town for the Dubai International Motor Show.
The fastest, priciest and most limited-edition sets of wheels will fill the halls in the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from Thursday till November 14.
Here are some head-turners that will send car-mad residents into a tizzy:
Show-stoppers include McLaren's MP4-12C super-car, one of the fastest cars in the world. Its body is made of a single mould of carbon fibre to keep it light yet strong. The nearly 600-horsepower beast is Britain's answer to Italy's Ferrari or Lamborghini sports cars. It bolts from zero to 100 km/h in a — claimed — 3.1 seconds, screaming on to a top speed of 330 km/h.
Also striking a pose is the new Brabus E-V12 Coupe, said to be the world's fastest Grand Tourismo. It is the executive and tame Mercedes E-Class on steroids, gone absolutely wild.
The German missile on wheels boasts an 800-horsepower engine that can catapult it to an incredible 350 km/h — that's with an in-built speed-limiter for street-legal use.
Not to be outdone by brute power, the Flying Lady of Rolls Royce will be decked out in 2,300 diamonds on the front of the luxury ride. The hood ornament alone is worth an estimated Dh900,000.
Motor bikes are also on show — the biggest number on display in its two-decade history.
Exclusive accessories and parts are housed in an after-sales area and a lifestyle section includes watches, fashion, gadgets and even grooming to complement the parade of prestige cars.
Tickets are priced at Dh50.
