Sorouh presents Lulu Island master plan
Sorouh Real Estate on Tuesday unveiled the master plan for Lulu Island.
Dubai: Sorouh Real Estate on Tuesday unveiled the master plan for Lulu Island.
Sorouh earlier presented the master plan to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Saeed Eid Al Ghafli, chairman of Sorouh, said: "We will create a destination worthy of Abu Dhabi, working with the best international architects, designers and consultants to global best practice standards."
The architectural model gives visitors to Cityscape Abu Dhabi the chance to see the initial vision for Lulu Island, an area of almost 1,400 acres located 500 metres offshore from the Abu Dhabi Corniche.
Sorouh is working with the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council to ensure the development is fully in line with Plan Abu Dhabi 2030.
Important element
Lulu Island is identified as perhaps the most important element of the city's future framework and will play a prominent role in projecting 'Brand Abu Dhabi'.
Mounir Haidar, chief executive of Sorouh, said: "Anyone who has walked along Abu Dhabi's Corniche has seen Lulu Island and the potential this prime location offers the city.
"Located at the head of Abu Dhabi Island, every trip into the city culminates with a view of Lulu. It is critical that we create a place that reflects the national and international importance of this location.
"We recognise and respect the responsibility we have been given and Sorouh will mobilise all its resources to create a location of which Abu Dhabi can be proud."
The master-plan shows Lulu Island benefitting from high-end, low-rise development with large open spaces and easy access to a wide range of services, facilities and leisure activities.
It illustrates a range of residential, resort and retail areas, and capitalises on the Island's water features with canals, marinas and a public beach.
