Sapphire project will be Istanbul's tallest building

Dubai: Kiler Group, a major retail player in Turkey, has unveiled its signature project - a $150-million residential, leisure and shopping centre development called Sapphire that will rise in the business district of Istanbul.
The company has already spent $40 million on the project, which will be the city's first and only eco-friendly building with indoor gardens, a mini golf course and environmentally-sound systems that guarantee low-energy consumption.
"This phenomenal building will be a landmark project in Istanbul with a double skin and vertical terraces and gardens," the company said.
Raw construction of the shopping centre has been completed and once fully finished, the 54-storey transparent structure designed by Tabanlioglu Architecture will grace Istanbul's skyline, standing 261 metres tall.
"The finished portion approximates a 90,000 square-metre building area. Upon completion, it will be Turkey's tallest building," the company said.
Its facade features two independent shells, with the interiors enjoying a significant shield from harsh weather and noise. Its transparent shell also serves as a buffer between the indoors and the outdoors, and has a positive effect on structural solutions.
