Dubai: Nakheel has launched Emirates, the tenth and final precinct to be added to the existing nine precincts that make up the Residential District of International City.
Construction on the Emirates Precinct began early this year, with completion scheduled for the third quarter of 2009. Emirates will feature 856 studios and 756 one-bedroom units. In addition to the residential units, 52 units will be handed for commercial use.
"Emirates Precinct presents the beauty and timelessness of traditional regional architecture, adding to the wide variety of styles that make this development truly international," said Rashid Al Helli, director of International City.
International City began construction in 2003 and comprises the Residential District that includes 387 buildings and the Central District that includes 34 plots currently under construction. Neighbouring developments include the Dragon Mart Complex.
