Limitless plans Malaysia venture

Limitless, the global master development arm of Dubai World, has secured its second project in Malaysia - a 1,115 hectare mixed-use development that is set to be the world's first fully integrated halal centre, a statement said.

Dubai: Limitless, the global master development arm of Dubai World, has secured its second project in Malaysia - a 1,115 hectare mixed-use development that is set to be the world's first fully integrated halal centre, a statement said.

Malaysia International Halal Park (Mihap) - an 80-20 joint venture between Limitless and a Malaysian investment company comprising Mihap Holdings and Perbadanan Kemajuan Pertanian Selangor - will turn Malaysia into a global gateway for the industry's trading, services and knowledge, the statement said.

Located in Selangor state, 40 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur, between the international airport and Port Klang, Mihap includes more than 800 hectares of residential units, providing homes for around 200,000 people.

There will also be food manufacturing plants of international standard, logistics ports, and training and research centres, as well as offices, entertainment and retail facilities, all of which will comply with halal principles.

Masterplan

As with all Limitless developments, a significant proportion of the masterplan is dedicated to open spaces, with more than 170 hectares of parks and water features.

In December 2007, the company announced that it would masterplan a waterfront development of luxury homes at Puteri Harbour in Malaysia's Iskander region. It also celebrated the ground-breaking for its Halong Star project in Vietnam.

It is an honour for Limitless to be playing such a key role in establishing Malaysia as the world centre of excellence for the halal industry."

Construction of MIHAP is due to begin towards the end of this year, with phased completion over eight years.
