Dubai: Al Shafar General Contracting (ASGC) has won a contract worth Dh1.1 billion from Nakheel, to construct a mixed residential development in Jumeirah Heights.
ASGC will collaborate with consultant, Arenco, on the project which is set for completion in August 2010.
Jumeirah Heights will comprise a spacious, contemporary, urban community with mid-to-low-rise apartments and townhouses giving bird's eye views over nearby water and parklands in New Dubai.
ASGC will be working on one of two identical clusters, Frond B, comprising two mid-rise apartment buildings, 17 townhouses, and three low-rise buildings that will house two and three bedroom loft apartments with private gardens.
"Our continuous focus on reliability and integrity has played a vital role in making us a recognised contracting leader in this highly competitive market place," Bishoy Azmy, CEO of ASGC, said. "By placing great importance on the principles of safety, quality and people, we have been able to satisfy our clients' needs on every project."
ASGC is ranked as the fifth largest contractor in the UAE by MEED (Middle East Economic Digest) and is currently handling an order book worth Dh9 billion. Between 2005 and 2007, the company grew by 377 per cent and its rapid growth was recognised when it was named Company of the Year by Construction Week.
High recognition
This followed recognition of the company's attention to good working practices when it was named a finalist in the award for Best Family Business of the year from MEBA (Middle East Business Achievement).
In February 2008, ASGC achieved certification to international safety and environmental standards with ISO 14001 (International Standards Organisation) and OHSAS 180001 (Occupational Health and Safety Association) certification.
