Singapore: Dar Blend crude terminal by the Red Sea is due to be launched on September 1 several months earlier than anticipated, and exports may begin soon after, as the government pushed for loading facilities to be built swiftly, shipping and industry sources said.
Output from the Dar Blend oilfield, set to total 140,000-200,000 barrels per day (bpd) at its peak, had been delayed for more than a year by logistic and infrastructure constraints.
An Asian industry source said that exports were due to begin later in September, about 40 days after first oil at the fields.
Three weeks ago, shipping sources said that a set-back in construction of the single-point mooring facility needed to pump crude oil into tankers would delay exports until the end of the year.
