Lamprell to build offshore drilling platform for Jindal

London: Lamprell PLC (LAM.LN), a provider of engineering and contracting services to the energy industry, Wednesday announced a second contract award from the Jindal Group to build an outfitted and equipped mobile offshore drilling platform. Contract awarded by Jindal group unit Dev Drilling Pte Ltd

LeTourneau-designed rig will be of a Super 116E (Enhanced) Class design, designed to operate in water depths of up to 350 feet; it will have a rated drilling depth of 30,000 feet. Lamprell will fabricate the jackup rig in its yard in Hamriyah Construction phase to take 18 months. Jindal has an option for Lamprell to build a further jackup rig, exercisable during a period of 6 months from the effective date of the contract. Shares closed Tuesday at 135 pence valuing the company at GBP351 million.
