Abu Dhabi: Amana Contracting and Steel Buildings, a Middle East turnkey contractor, said on Sunday it has been awarded a Dh85 million contract by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), for the construction of a new research centre for Takreer.
The research centre is part of the Petroleum Institute Campus, being developed by Adnoc at Sas Al Nakhl in Abu Dhabi. The total built-up area for the facility is 6,000 square metres and is scheduled for completion in June 2009.
"Adnoc is one of the highest profile clients. The reason why we have won this project is because we have delivered all our previous projects on time and within budget while meeting all the quality standards," a senior Amana Contracting executive told Gulf News.
Reputation
He said Adnoc is tough on quality, health and safety and delivery of projects on time.
"There were no accidents on site when we executed projects for Adnoc, previously. This new contract from Adnoc will definitely enhance our reputation in the market," said the Amana Contracting executive, adding that any future price escalations in the cost of building materials is included in the deal.
The contract encompasses construction of a three-storey research centre building, comprising laboratories, workshops, pilot plant, gas bunker and offices in addition to all related services and infrastructure. The centre also aims to provide employment opportunities for UAE nationals.
"Amana's competitive offer coupled with a commitment to high quality standards and delivery resulted in our decision to award them this contract," said Adnoc's civil projects division manager, Awaidha Murshed A. Al Murar, in a statement.
Amana Contracting has constructed more than 1,500 buildings across the Middle East.
