The Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (Adipec 2004) ended yesterday signalling that it will become one of the top oil and gas shows globally.
To meet demand for more space from existing and new exhibitors, Adipec 2006 will cover more area and include new features, organisers said.
Next Adipec will be held from November 5-8, 2006, said Ahmad Humaid Al Mazroui, director-general of General Exhibitions Corp, adding that plans are afoot to make the show truly global in view of the growing importance of the oil and gas industry, particularly in the region.
"The massive developments in the energy sector in the UAE and the region coupled with the overwhelming interest by international firms has raised the profile of Adipec. It will be bigger and better next time with greater participation," he said.
Major event
Some 1,209 companies from 54 countries took part this year and the exhibition covered 30,000 square metres compared with 21,000 in the previous one.
An average of 8,000 visitors attended the show daily which saw the presence of oil ministers from the GCC, Yemen and Pakistan.
According to Ashok Pillai, Adipec project manager, the event attracted almost all energy majors.
